Epiphone Guitar company has been bought by their main competitor Gibson in the late 1950s. Aside from guitars, Epiphone also made banjos, bass guitars, violins, banjos and other stringed instruments. After the take over by Gibson all models of Epiphone Guitars are developed and manufactured by Gibson Guitar Corporation.

The most famous model of Epiphone guitars introduced by Gibson is the Casino. The Casino features the shape and configuration of a Gibson ES-330. With the very heavy sound the Casino Epiphone Guitars became popular rhythm guitars due to their fairly thick sound and the genuine hollow body with P90 pickups.

The Casino Epiphone guitars are famous for being used by The Beatles. Paul McCartney was the first to acquire one and John Lennon and George Harrison followed soon after. All three Casino Epiphone Guitars were sunburst finishes, Paul and George's were factory fitted with a Bigsby vibrato tailpiece.

The Casino Epiphone guitars were used in the Taxman and their sound is very prevalent throughout Revolver and later albums. John Lennon used his Casino Epiphone Guitars for a long period with the Beatles. Current product line of Epiphone Guitars include the Acoustic, Acoustic / Electric, Archtop, Bluegrass, Designer, Goth, Historical, Les Paul, Masterbilt, Nylon and the SG series.
