Jackson guitars were originally owned and manufactured by Grover Jackson of Charvel Guitar Repair. The shop where
Jackson Guitars were manufactured was located in Glendora, California up until 1986, than Company merged with IMC, a Texas based importer of musical instruments, and Jackson guitars factory moved to Ontario, California.
In 2002, Fender purchased
Jackson Guitars, and operations were moved to the Fender factory in Corona, CA. Fender is now manufacturing all Jackson guitars. Fender has brought fairly low prices on high end USA models of
Jackson Guitars and improved quality.
Jackson Guitars has become known for its slender and elegant models with an aggressive look popular in hard rock and metal music.
Jackson Guitars are best known for the V Model designed by Randy Rhoads and most of Jackson guitars feature pointy drooped headstocks, some models feature a reversed pointy headstock with the tip pointing upwards. Another trademark is the Shark Fins fret inlays.
